A goal of mine in 2019 is to have my first photo book printed. While I’m still working on the concept of it but I know I want to involve St. Pete and the depth of character I’ve found in this city. So for know I’m going to keep shooting street photos like these in different parts of the city and flesh out the story of the book as I go.
Treasure Island, a fragment of the long stretch of tourist trap culture along the west side of the St. Pete peninsula. I hadn’t shot in this area before today so I really just wanted to wander around and see what the possibilities were. What kind of character could I find hiding behind the gift shops and hotels lining the beach. Turns out quite a bit. I definitely want to go back and capture more of the pastel colors and bold architectural design of the bigger hotels that will make for great portraiture back drops.
One thing I didn’t expect to stumble upon was the Redington Long Pier. It was recently brought to ruin by a storm passing through and is now set to be destroyed in the near future. Until then though it makes for a lot of fun to photograph! Go check it out before its too late.
